722 Southwest Blvd, Kansas City, KS 66103

A shop that has been fixing what’s broke since 1994.

Boulevard Tire & Service has sat at the same address on Southwest Boulevard for over thirty years, which in a business that lives on trust is most of the argument by itself. The shop is locally, family and veteran owned, and it has stayed small enough that the person who quotes your brakes is the same person who checks on them after.

That person is Blake “Boss” Breeden. He bought Boulevard Tire & Service in 2009 after leaving a corporate cubicle job, and by every account he has not looked back. He is known around the shop for always having a smile on his face, and he is happy to talk through what is actually wrong with a car rather than just handing over a bill for it. One reviewer, Ian, put it plainly:

“A special thank you to Blake, who always follows up after service to make sure everything is running well. That kind of personal attention and customer care is rare these days.”
Ian, Google review

The shop runs on the same handful of habits that got it to thirty years: ASE certified technicians on every job, same day estimates so nobody is guessing about a bill, and a one year warranty on parts and labor once the work is done. English and Spanish are both spoken at the counter, and if a car cannot make it to 722 Southwest Blvd under its own power, pickup and delivery is available. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay and cash all work the same way at checkout. And if you spend enough time in the waiting room, you will meet Copper, the shop dog, who has his own following among the regulars.

The waiting room: an arcade cabinet that still works, a television, and enough seating that nobody stands. Benjamin Bailey, back after twenty years away, noticed the same care everywhere else in the shop:

“Hadn’t been here in about twenty years. Some of the decor was changed around and lengthened out. The service was definitely still excellent. They quoted me a price and took care of my situation with no problems or conflict.”

Who’s on the counter and the bay

Five names you will actually hear

Two of these names turn up unprompted in real customer reviews, which is not something a shop can arrange. David Stelting wrote that “Eric and the guys always take care of me,” and Blake is named directly, and thanked by name, by more than one reviewer for calling after the job is done. That is the short version of what this crew is like to deal with.

Blake bought the business in 2009 and still works the front of it. Eric Borisouth runs the shop day to day as general manager. Cody Hughey, Bryson Honeycutt and Paul Brake are the technicians who actually turn the wrenches, on tires and on everything else that comes through the door, from engine diagnostics to a full brake job. It is a small enough crew that a returning customer is usually greeted by name, and a new one gets the same attention on the first visit.

Dwight Larkins, a customer for years, described the shop this way: “They are personable and ONLY fix what’s needed... With that kind of honesty it makes me come back over and over again.” That is the standard the five names above are held to, on tires and on the rest of the car alike.
